February 5, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Wednesday, Congressman Mike Haridopolos (FL-08) delivered a speech on the Floor of the House of Representatives to recognize the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department for the work they do protecting our community and to highlight the impact of the fentanyl epidemic in our community.

A video of Rep. Haridopolos’ speech can be found here.

The full remarks are below:

I rise today to extend my gratitude to Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey and the dedicated men and women of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office for their unwavering commitment to protecting our communities.

Last week, I rode along with Sheriff Ivey on a patrol through our community to see firsthand the challenges our law enforcement officers face each day.

That same day, deputies arrested a man who was found to be in possession of enough fentanyl to kill over 20,000 people.

This is the dangerous reality that our law enforcement officers confront every day due to the failures of the last administration to secure our borders.

The deadly impact of fentanyl has devastated communities across America, and strong action must be taken to end this crisis and save lives.

To Sheriff Ivey and the brave men and women of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office: Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your unwavering dedication to justice.

I will continue to stand with you in the fight to keep our communities safe.
