Congressman Haridopolos Votes to Make it Easier to Overturn Last-Minute Biden Administration Regulations
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On Monday, Congressman Mike Haridopolos (FL-08) voted “YES” on H.R. 77, the Midnight Rules Relief Act, ensuring Congress can effectively review and repeal last-minute regulations issued at the end of a presidential term.
“In its final days, the Biden Administration pushed through numerous regulations that could negatively impact our economy and individual freedoms,” said Rep. Haridopolos. “This legislation ensures that Congress can swiftly address these lame duck regulations, maintaining the checks and balances envisioned by our Founders. The American people deserve a government that is accountable, not one that circumvents oversight in its last moments of power.”
H.R. 77 enhances the Congressional Review Act by allowing multiple disapproval resolutions to be considered at once, making it easier for Congress to repeal last-minute regulations that could otherwise evade scrutiny. By expanding the review window to 12 months, the bill ensures lawmakers can act decisively against regulatory overreach, safeguarding economic growth and government accountability.
