Congressman Haridopolos Votes to Pass the One Big Beautiful Bill, Delivering Real Results for Working Americans

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Mike Haridopolos (FL-08) voted to pass H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, delivering a major legislative victory for working Americans. After clearing both chambers of Congress, the bill passed its final hurdle in the House, locking in tax relief, border security, and long-overdue reforms to strengthen the middle class. The bill now heads to President Trump to be signed into law.

We end taxes on tips and overtime, protect seniors’ Social Security, and secure our border for good. Key highlights of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act include: 
 

• Tax relief for seniors on Social Security: Creates a new $6,000 deduction for seniors making under $75,000, providing meaningful relief to retirees living on fixed incomes.
• No taxes on tips or overtime: Puts more money back in the pockets of service workers, nurses, and first responders by eliminating federal taxes on income earned through overtime and tips.
• Preventing a looming tax hike: Makes the Trump tax cuts permanent, ensuring small businesses and working families aren’t hit with higher taxes next year.
• Expanding the child tax credit and creating seed savings accounts: Gives families a stronger foundation to build their future, with more support for raising kids and planning ahead.
• Permanently securing the Southern Border: Fully funds the president’s border security agenda, including resources to finish the wall and increase manpower at DHS, CBP, and ICE.
• Protecting Medicaid for the truly vulnerable: Preserves care for pregnant women, low-income children, seniors in nursing homes, and people with disabilities, while ending benefits for illegal immigrants and able-bodied adults who refuse to work.
• Investing in American spaceflight and Florida’s Space Coast: Delivers $250 million to Kennedy Space Center to support infrastructure upgrades, reinforcing U.S. leadership in space and fueling growth in Florida’s aerospace industry.
