January 16, 2025

Congressman Mike Haridopolos (FL-08) issued the following statement in response to Blue Origin’s successful launch of their New Glenn rocket, which lifted off last night from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

"I want to congratulate Blue Origin on the successful launch of their New Glenn rocket, and for achieving orbit on their first launch of this system,” said Rep. Haridopolos. “As this groundbreaking rocket lifted into the skies above Cape Canaveral, it marked another major milestone in American innovation and space exploration.”

“The introduction of another heavy-lift launch vehicle by an American company is a win for our economy and our national security. By driving competition, reducing costs, and strengthening our leadership in space, companies like Blue Origin are shaping the future of the aerospace industry.”

“I applaud the incredible work of the engineers, scientists, and visionaries at Blue Origin who made this moment possible. Their success is a testament to the power of private enterprise to push the envelope of what is possible and to inspire the next generation of dreamers and doers in America."

Congressman Mike Haridopolos represents Florida’s 8th Congressional District, the “Space Coast”, which includes Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. Florida’s Space Coast continues to be the busiest region in the world for rocket launches, seeing 93 successful launches in 2024. Blue Origin’s success marks the seventh launch from the Space Coast in 2025.

Congressman Haridopolos was recently appointed to the Science, Space, and Technology Committee in the House of Representatives.
