Congressman Mike Haridopolos Joins House Republicans in Sending the Laken Riley Act to President Trump’s Desk on Day Three of His Presidency
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Mike Haridopolos (FL-08) celebrated the House’s passage of the amended Laken Riley Act, which now heads to President Trump on just the third day of his presidency. Having originally passed the House on January 7th, the Senate passed an amended version of the Laken Riley Act earlier this week with bipartisan support.
“I’m proud to join my Republican colleagues in the House in finally passing the Laken Riley Act, sending it to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law”, said Rep. Haridopolos. “This crucial legislation strengthens immigration enforcement by ensuring illegal immigrants convicted of crimes like theft are detained by ICE. The tragic murder of Laken Riley could have been prevented if her killer had been detained under a commonsense law like this, and this bill will help prevent future tragedies.”
“It is imperative that we continue to work to make our country safe again,” Haridopolos added, “This is the first step towards bringing the Biden border crisis to an end, and I will continue to fight for policies that protect our citizens, secure our borders, and put America first.”
