Congressman Mike Haridopolos Votes to Rein in Judicial Overreach with the Passage of the No Rogue Rulings Act
WASHINGTON D.C. – On Tuesday, Congressman Mike Haridopolos (FL-08) joined his Republican colleagues in voting to pass H.R. 1526 – the No Rogue Rulings Act. This legislation is aimed at restoring balance to the judicial system by limiting the ability of individual district judges to issue nationwide injunctions.
“The No Rogue Rulings Act puts a decisive stop to the manipulative practice of judge-shopping, which has enabled opponents of federal policies to exploit a single district judge to block executive actions and paralyze the entire policymaking process,” said Congressman Haridopolos. “Our Constitution is built on a system of checks and balances, not dictatorial authority vested in individual district judges over the whole nation.”
The No Rogue Rulings Act, introduced by Rep. Darrell Issa and passed by the House of Representatives, tackles the escalating issue of judicial overreach, particularly instances where a single district judge issues sweeping injunctions to halt national policies crafted by the Executive Branch. In recent years, a pattern has emerged where progressive district judges deploy nationwide injunctions to obstruct executive actions, effectively thwarting the ability of duly elected leaders to execute their constitutional mandates.
House Republicans have rallied behind this bill to restore balance, ensuring the Executive Branch can fulfill its responsibilities as intended under our constitutional framework, a standard upheld by administrations across party lines. This legislation marks a pivotal move to reinforce the checks and balances essential to preserving our democratic system.
