Haridopolos Named Chairman of House Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics

Washington, D.C. -- The House Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics appointed Congressman Mike Haridopolos (FL-08) as Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics, the subcommittee tasked with overseeing America’s space policy and programs. Congressman Haridopolos will lead efforts to expand America’s leadership in space exploration, national security, and innovation. 

“I am honored to be selected to serve as Chairman of the Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee," said Rep. Haridopolos. “Since the earliest days of our space program, Florida’s Space Coast has been the launchpad for America’s journey to the stars. From the Apollo missions that first carried Americans to the Moon to today’s groundbreaking private sector launches, our skies have always been at the forefront of space exploration. Space is central to our district’s identity and economy, providing countless high-paying jobs and opportunities. 

The United States is the global leader in space, and maintaining that edge is crucial to our economy, national security, and scientific progress. Together with NASA, the Space Force, and our private-sector partners, we will expand our reach into the cosmos, strengthen our economy, and ensure America’s dominance in space for generations to come. Whether it is advancing human exploration, securing our space-based infrastructure, or fostering economic growth, we have the tools to deliver results that will resonate for decades.”

Congressman Mike Haridopolos represents Florida’s 8th Congressional District, Florida’s Space Coast; home to Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and Kennedy Space Center. Florida’s Space Coast is the busiest region for America’s spaceflight program, hosting 93 successful launches in 2024 and 10 successful launches occurring already this year.
