January 3, 2025

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Mike Haridopolos was officially sworn in today as the Representative for Florida’s 8th Congressional District, which includes Brevard and Indian River Counties. Haridopolos, a longtime advocate for the Space Coast and its vital contributions to America’s economy and security, expressed his eagerness to get to work on behalf of the district.

“I am honored to represent the people of Florida’s 8th District and I am ready to get to work,” said Haridopolos. “I look forward to building on the strong foundation laid by Congressman Bill Posey, whose 16 years of service have been instrumental in advancing our district’s priorities.”

Haridopolos previously represented many of the same communities during his time in the Florida State Legislature, including during his tenure as President of the Florida Senate.

In Congress, Haridopolos has been appointed to two key committees: the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology and the Committee on Financial Services. These assignments position him to address critical priorities for the district.

“Brevard County is the heart of America’s space program,” said Haridopolos. “I am committed to keeping it at the forefront of space exploration and economic growth. On the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, I will work with NASA, the Space Force, and private industry leaders like SpaceX and Blue Origin to ensure our district remains a global hub for innovation.”

On the Financial Services Committee, Haridopolos will focus on strengthening the economy, fostering growth in financial technologies like cryptocurrency, and ensuring the security of America’s financial systems. “We need a strong, resilient economy that benefits families and businesses across the district and the nation,” he added.

As part of the Republican majority in the House, Haridopolos pledged to work alongside Speaker Mike Johnson and President Trump to address key national challenges. These include securing the border, reducing the national debt, combating the fentanyl crisis, expanding America’s energy independence, and countering threats from the Chinese Communist Party.

“We have got a lot of work ahead of us, and I’m committed to working with my colleagues to deliver real results for the American people,” Haridopolos said. “Together, we can tackle challenges and seize opportunities to ensure a brighter future for Florida’s 8th Congressional District and for our country”

A resident of Indian Harbour Beach, Haridopolos lives with his wife, Dr. Stephanie Haridopolos, and their three adult children.
