WASHINGTON, DC – Florida’s Space Coast has gained a significant advocate in Congress as newly elected Representative Mike Haridopolos of Indian Harbor Beach has been appointed chair of the Congressional Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics.
“I am truly honored to Chair this important committee,” said Haridopolos.
This subcommittee, operating under the Science, Space, and Technology Committee, oversees agency budgets exceeding $42 billion and plays a critical role in shaping space policy and initiatives.
Washington, D.C. -- The House Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics appointed Congressman Mike Haridopolos (FL-08) as Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics, the subcommittee tasked with overseeing America’s space policy and programs. Congressman Haridopolos will lead efforts to expand America’s leadership in space exploration, national security, and innovation.

Newly sworn in U.S. Rep. Mike Haridopolos, an Indian Harbour Beach Republican, used his first chance to address the House chamber to extoll the space program in his home of Brevard County.
The Representative of Florida’s 8th Congressional District, located on the Space Coast, said he’s thrilled the space program is gaining momentum, with more and more liftoffs from Cape Canaveral. It was his first congressional address in the House since being elected Nov. 5.
On Tuesday, Congressman Mike Haridopolos (FL-08) delivered his first speech on the floor of the House of Representatives, which he used to highlight the Space Coast’s leadership in America’s space program, and to applaud the men and women of the public and private sectors who power this crucial industry.

Congressman Mike Haridopolos (FL-08) issued the following statement in response to Blue Origin’s successful launch of their New Glenn rocket, which lifted off last night from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
"I want to congratulate Blue Origin on the successful launch of their New Glenn rocket, and for achieving orbit on their first launch of this system,” said Rep. Haridopolos. “As this groundbreaking rocket lifted into the skies above Cape Canaveral, it marked another major milestone in American innovation and space exploration.”
The Space Coast’s new congressman wants the U.S. to set bold goals for exploration beyond our Earth, believing the country’s potential will take Americans sky-high – literally.
"We need to do everything we can to make sure it's safe, but it's done in a way that removes some of the superfluous red tape so that we can get out there, compete and beat China and beat any other nation," Rep. Mike Haridopolos, R-Fla., told Fox News Digital in an interview.
"Because the moon and beyond is not a cliché from a Disney movie. It is the future."
