WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Mike Haridopolos (FL-08) introduced his first piece of legislation, H.R. 3343, The Greenlighting Growth Act. This bill will help small public companies by clarifying financial reporting requirements and removing outdated regulatory roadblocks to growth. The bill amends federal securities law to ensure that Emerging Growth Companies (EGCs) can continue to benefit from streamlined disclosure rules created under the bipartisan Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act of 2012.

VERO BEACH — Piper Aircraft Inc., the largest private employer in Indian River County, stood to lose more than 1,000 jobs because of tariffs threatened against Canada. Some two-thirds of its workforce could have been laid off.

But behind-the-scenes efforts by U.S. Rep. Mike Haridopolos, R-Indian Harbor Beach, helped find a provision in a federal trade agreement that may have saved those jobs and perhaps the entire company.

Strengthening these reporting requirements is a key national security step to expose and counter malign foreign influence on America’s campuses. The bill lowers the threshold for disclosing gifts and contracts from foreign sources to the Department of Education, reducing it from $250,000 to $50,000.
